Wahrscheinlich hat kaum ein US-Gospelsänger so viel Geduld beim Warten auf ein neues Album erfordert wie Richard Smallwood. Doch die Hoffnung steigt, dass es dieses Jahr noch erscheint, denn
auf der MySpace-Seite von Richard Smallwood ist bereits der erste Titel bzw. die Single "I'll Ttrust You" vom Album "Journey: Live In New York" in voller Länge zu hören.
Bereits im Juli 2005 erhielt ich von Karsten Sievert diese Meldung: "Ich will ein Flugticket! SOFORT!" und begründete das hiermit:
"Richard Smallwood, classical piano virtuoso and composer of some of gospel's greatest songs including Total Praise, Center Of My Joy, I Love The Lord and Healing, will be recording live on a star-studded night in Manhattan. On August 24, 2005, Smallwood will be joined by some of the biggest names in gospel and mainstream music.
Artists joining in the live recording, entitled Journey, will feature some of the artists that have influenced Richard Smallwood in his musical journey. Joining Smallwood will be Aretha Franklin, Kim Burrell, The Clark Sisters, Roberta Flack, Kathleen Battle, The Hawkins Family, Chaka Khan, Tramaine Hawkins, Kelly Price, the Original Smallwood Singers And Vision. The recording will take place on August 24, 2005 at 7:30 PM at the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center, 311 W. 34th St., New York [...]"
Da wollen wir mal hoffen, dass sich das Warten auch lohnt. Nach Israel & New Breed in Hamburg (@Andreas: Daaanke!!!) sowie Kirk Franklin (im November in Amsterdam) müsste Richard Smallwood doch der nächste sein, oder?!
